Blame Judges, Magistrates, Et al For Frequent Murders
A missionary of the Churches of Christ has alleged that Ghana’s judges, magistrates, judicial system and the police must partly be blamed for the frequent murder cases being recorded in the country.
According to Brother Dr. Daniel Owusu Asiamah, failure on the part of the country’s judicial system and some judges to expedite adjudication of cases involving suspected murderers entices others to engage in same.
“Is it not surprising and worrying that up to date the cases involving the murder of an NPP Member of Parliament, JB Danquah Adu, is still pending in court; how many years now?… Ahmed Suale, the investigative journalist who was murdered, how far with his case; who has been sentenced?…the Mfantseman MP [Ekow Quansah Hayford] who was also murdered…. all these cases and others are still not adjudicated; the suspects involved are even being fed and transported with the nation’s vehicle to and fro courts…so why wouldn’t these embolden others to also engage in same?…because they know at the end of the day they’ll either go unpunished or be catered for by the state,” the vociferous preacher bemoaned.
The proprietor of Takoradi-based Outreach Africa free Vocational Institute (OAVI) made this outburst in the latest episode of his weekly Adom TV program dubbed “the voice of the Church” under the topic “you need protection?” on Sunday.
“We’re in this country where a young man below 40years has been arrested at Abesim in Sunyani for allegedly killing someone, put the human flesh in the fridge and the case involving such a person has been pending for only God knows how long due to adjournments…the funny part is he [suspect] gets the audacity to even request for fried rice and chicken…ah! what kind of country is this?,” the former Takoradi Central Church of Christ preacher further queried.
To buttress his point, he cited Ecclesiastes 8:11 which reads “Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.” He charged Justices of the various courts to know the importance of adjudicating such cases expeditiously in order to among other things, demotivate others to practice same.
He therefore cautioned all those who had killed and those who had plans to kill for either protection, power or money rituals to be careful “because as I’ve been telling you since time immemorial that Satan does not give out things for free; you shall surely pay for it one day because Satan’s protection has a limit but God’s stays forever”.
