Bad News As Man, 39 Allegedly Jump Into Well And Died In Eastern Region- See What Allegedly Happened

-

Roland Chawey, 39, has been discovered dead in a well at Asokore, a neighborhood of New Juaben North municipality in the Eastern region.

The deceased is thought to have committed suicide by plunging into the well early on August 28, 2023.

Isaac Osei, an assemblyman from the Fofie Electoral Area, reported hearing from some locals that they discovered clothing and sandals belonging to an unidentified individual next to the well and believed he had drowned.

He claimed that after checking the information, he called the Police, Fire Service, and NADMO in a desperate attempt to save the victim, but the victim was tragically found dead.

His body has been placed in the St. Joseph Hospital mortuary.

According to sources, the late Chawey Roland who was a well-known drug user, recently became ill and was admitted to St. Joseph Hospital, but he escaped.

Meanwhile, an eight-year-old police officer’s son who was discovered hanging at the police barracks in Gallaway, Koforidua, with a sponge around his neck, in a suspected suicide case, was buried over the weekend.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that more than 700 000 people worldwide commit suicide each year, or one every 40 seconds.

Suicide is a widespread issue that affects people of all ages, including children.

To stop suicide and suicide attempts, effective and evidence-based treatments can be adopted at the community, subpopulation, and individual levels.

There are signs that more than 20 other adults may have attempted suicide for every adult who died by suicide.

Suicide is a widespread issue; in fact, 77% of suicides in 2019 took place in low- and middle-income nations.

The 17th largest cause of death in 2019 was suicide, which caused 1.3% of deaths globally.
