Wassa Amenfi East Municipal:4 Illegal Miners Arrested, 4 Chanfans Machines Burnt to ashes

Four illegal miners who were mining in the River Mamie in the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality of the Western Region have been arrested. The suspects were arrested during “operation no mercy” to fight illegal mining in the area.

The operation was initiated by the Municipal Chief Executive, Fredrick Korankye with the support of the local taskforce.
The operation also burnt four chanfans which were being used for the illegal mining.
The suspects were handed over to the police who would arrange them before court today, October 19, 2022. The MCE, Fredrick Korankye, spoke to the media, He said this is going to be continued so he’s appealing to the chiefs and the good people of every community to their full support in him to fight against those who are mining on the River bodies.

Finally, he stated that anyone who is interested would be arrested during this operations will be facing the law.
