A man is dead, and a woman critically wounded after what police said started as a domestic violence incident.
“they were nice, never had any problems with them,” said next-door neighbor Michael Montgomery, “very, very shocking.”
Columbus police said officers responded to the 4800 block of Glendon Road at around 10:36 p.m. following a report of a domestic violence incident.
As police went to the address, the incident changed to a shooting.
Montgomery, says he learned about the gunfire inside his neighbor’s home, when the couple’s three young sons knocked on his door.
the 16-year-old said they were arguing, they heard two bangs , ran out the door and came over here,” said Montgomery, “they heard the shooting and dad wouldn’t let them back in the house, so they came knocking on the door.
Montgomery says the couple has four children and lived in the home for nearly a decade. He says they were also very active in the Ghana community in Columbus.

Police said the preliminary investigation revealed that Amoaka shot the female victim before shooting himself.
Due to the severity of the woman’s injuries, the Columbus Police Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting.

“There are so many resources available out there,” said Ginther, “we have to make sure we are sharing information, with folks that may be in domestic violence situations, getting the support and resources they need.”
“I wish I could’ve done something,” said Montgomery, “there were no signs of anything like this, not that we saw.”
