Okudzeto Ablakwa claims that “Galamsey Queen” Aisha Huang was not escorted when she was deported.

Aisha Huang, the “galamsey” kingpin, allegedly did not have an escort when she was deported in 2019. This is according to the ranking member of the foreign affairs committee in parliament.

Aisha Huang’s deportation, according to Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, was only a “charade” by the government and a “shambolic effort at a deportation.”

He said in a Top Story interview on Monday that the ‘galamsey’ kingpin might have fled during Aisha Huang’s journey to China because of the embarrassing way she was deported.

“This entire deportation hoax will go down in history as the most disastrous attempt at deportation ever. Do you know that there was no escort present during this deportation? She might have easily fled when they transited through Addis Abeba because there was no escort, he claimed.

There is no guarantee that Aisha Huang completed the entire portion of the journey, the North Tongu MP emphasized.
He claims that the Chinese government wasn’t aware of the deportation’s terms until two days after it had already taken place.

“Will I be deported permanently? Was it only six months long? Nobody, not even the Chinese government, knows, he insisted.

As a result, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has demanded an impartial investigation into Aisha Huang’s entry into the nation.

According to the MP, this is the only way to properly punish the suspect and her complicities.

He stated on Facebook on September 12 that Ghana “needs an immediate full-scale impartial inquiry to unravel this enigma and to identify Aisha Huang’s collaborators in high places for swift sanctions.”

Aisha Huang was detained in 2017 on suspicion of mining illegally. The government later deported the 47-year-old Chinese national in 2019, which raised concerns about Ghana’s commitment to addressing the problem.

She was, however, once again detained by the National Security in Kumasi a few weeks ago for surreptitiously returning to the nation to carry on with her “galamsey” business, which generated a public outcry calling for her prosecution.

Following their arrest, Aisha and her accomplices were flown to Accra where they were brought before an Accra Circuit Court the same day.

They are scheduled to return to court on September 14, 2022, but the court has remanded them into police custody.
