The steady decline in duel prices over the past months ascribed to the fall in crude oil prices on the global market and the stability of the Ghanaian cedi, which prompted Oil Marketing Companies to adjust their pump pricing downward.

The cost of fuel in November 2022 was Gh105.75 for a gallon of diesel and Gh80.96 for a gallon of gasoline.

However, the price reduced on November, 15, 2022 from Gh75.70 per gallon for petrol and diesel Gh92.30 per gallon

The new month which is getting to the end of the year, petrol is being sold 69.40 per gallon and diesel 84.90 per gallon.

Ghanaians were expected a reduction in transport fares as a sigh of due to the economic hardship in the country after the fall in fuel prices but the transport unions have stated emphatically that they will not reduce transport fares.

The True Drivers Union’s Public Relations (PR) Officer, Yaw Barimah, emphasized that the drivers have no reason to reduce the prices of transport fares despite the reduction in the fuel prices.

In an interview with The PR Officer, Yaw Barimah on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem program, Yaw stated that although they were aware of the drop in fuel prices, they had no intentions to lower transport fares.

On the interview he said, “We are aware that the price of fuel has reduced. We would desire to reduce transportation fares, but we are not ready and have no intension to do so. We will not even lower fares by one pesewa. There has been no change. As a result, we are unwilling to lower transportation fares.”

“If a thief steals from you and you chase him down and he gives you back some of what he stole from you, do you celebrate and clap for him?” he asked quizzed.
