President John Dramani Mahama has issued a directive to halt the sale and processing of state and public lands.
A post signed and released by Callistus Mahama, the Secretary to the President reads;
“I am directed to formally communicate a directive for the immediate cessation of all activities relating to the sale, lease, or processing of transactions involving State and Public Lands.
This directive has been issued to protect and preserve State and Public Lands for the collective benefit of the citizenry and future generations. As such, all ongoing and pending transactions must be halted without delay to facilitate a comprehensive review of the current framework governing the management of such lands.
You are further requested to submit a detailed report of all recent and ongoing transactions concerning State and Public Lands to this office within fourteen (14) days of this communication.
Background.
The NPP government handed over power to John Mahama on 7th January, 2025. Following that an team called Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) has began its work. Okudzeto Ablakwa, the chairman of the team recently said that his team has intercepted and prevented a private developer who wanted to destroy government bungalow and develop the land.
Lawyer Martin Kpebu, also alleged that, the ORAL team negotiated with the immediate past NIB boss to give back land he has illegally purchased and developed.
It is in the midst of the above that the government has issued directive to cease the selling of state lands.
