Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President of Ghana and 2024 presidential candidate for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a public apology to party members for the disappointing results in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking at an event in London, Dr. Bawumia admitted that the NPP made several mistakes that led to significant losses in important constituencies.
He acknowledged the party’s hard work but said that it was not enough to secure victory.
Dr. Bawumia stated “The NPP did a lot of work, there’s no doubt about that, but we did not get everything right. We got quite a few things wrong, and I think that, on my own behalf and on behalf of the party, I apologise to all of you for us not getting the figures right”.
He remained hopeful about the future. Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence that the party has learned valuable lessons from the defeat.
He remarked “I believe that, by the grace of God, if we are given another opportunity, we will get many things right, because we have learnt the lessons that will guide us forward”.
