Nobody can show that my government has squandered public cash, says Akufo-Addo.

-

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo claims that cautious economic management has enabled the government to meet Ghanaians’ development needs.

He contends that allegations of wasteful use of public cash are false and that no one can establish such allegations against his government.

Nana Akufo-Addo claimed his government has invested more in all parts of the economy than any other president in the fourth republic, speaking at an anti-corruption conference in Accra.

“No other administration in the fourth republic, if not the entire history of Ghana, has spent more money on education, health, infrastructure, particularly roads, agriculture, industry, security services, and anti-corruption institutions than my government.” Furthermore, despite all of these expenses, my government was still able to locate GHS25 billion to cover the depositors’ money refunds as a result of the financial sector crisis. “These expenditures plainly show what the Akufo-Addo government has done with taxpayers’ money and government resources,” he remarked.

“Any serious argument concerning the wanton squandering of public cash during my time as president is difficult to sustain,” he added.

The Akufo-Addo administration has been chastised for what many see as weak economic management that has resulted in economic suffering.

President Akufo-Addo, on the other hand, maintains that such charges are unfounded.
