Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) conducted a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 130-bed girls’ dormitory block at Dormaa Senior High School in the Bono Region.

-

The 130-bed girls’ dormitory when completed will relieve congestion and accommodate more students in the school.

Addressing the ceremony, the school’s Headmaster, Mr. Nicholas Asamoah, praised Ghana Gas for coming to the school’s aid and pleaded with the contractor to work hard to complete the project on time.

Mr Anyimah Nwiah Edomgbole, GNGC’s Assistant Project Manager, stated that because Dormaa SHS has one of the largest populations in the constituency, Ghana Gas felt it was appropriate to help improve the school’s conditions by constructing the girls’ dormitory.

Mr. Anyimah also took advantage of the opportunity to mention other projects in the area.
“As we speak, not only Dormaa SHS is benefiting from Ghana Gas; Sunyani Technical University will soon have a state-of-the-art ICT center that will train students in vehicle maintenance and assembly.” Ghana Gas is also building a 200-bed hospital for the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and which will cater for students and all inhabitant of the area,” he said.

Dormaa Senior High School celebrated its 75th anniversary this weekend, and Bono Regional Minister Hon. Justina Owusu-Banahene was in attendance.
She lauded GNGC’s intervention and urged other corporate entities to do the same.

Dignitaries who attended the ceremony included His Royal Majesty, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, the Dormaahene, Hon. Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman Manu, the Minister of Health and the Member of Parliament for the Dormaa Central Constituency, and Mr. Nicholas Asamoah, the Headmaster of Dormaa SHS.
