Non-residents overseas to be prevented from Olympic Games

-

The Chief Executive of the Tokyo 2020, Toshiro Muto has declared that International spectators will not be allowed to enter Japan for the upcoming Olympic Games amid public concerns over the upsurge of the covid 19 pandemic.
In a news conference, Toshiro Muto included that about 600,000 sold tickets to non-residing spectators overseas amidst another 300,000 Paralympic tickets will be refunded.
The Olympic Games held annually was postponed last year 2020 during the surface of the covid-19 pandemic with its intense spread across the globe. The pandemic which is still residing among countries could not actually prevent the Olympic Games organisers and the Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide from cancelling the event once again even though others have raised concerns.
As part of measures put in place for the safety of the participants as well as the entire country, the CEO of the Tokyo 2020 stated that “People who are involved in the Olympics in some way may be allowed to enter the country, whereas regular visitors will not be able to”. In effect, he added that staff members assigned for the progress of the Games will be reduced.
The Olympic Games are scheduled for July 23 to August 8 2021 and the Paralympics from August 24 to September 5, 2021.
