A senior lecturer of the University For Development Studies at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Science, Dr. Osman Tahidu Damba has been elected as the NDC parliamentary candidate for Tolon constituency.
Dr. Damba pulled 865 votes to beat his main contender, Yussif Adam Nanyama who got 324 votes.
Osman Damba(PhD) first appeared in the Tolon constituency parliamentary primaries contest in 2019 but was not successful. Yussif Adam Nanyama beat him to lead the NDC in the 2020 elections.
Delivering his speech after being declared winner, Dr. Damba expressed his commitment to working with all hands to wrestle the Tolon seat from the NPP.
He called for unity adding that it’s the only recipe for victory in 2024.
Meanwhile, Yussif Adam Nanyama pledged his undying support to the elected parliamentary candidate and called on his supporters to rally behind Dr. Damba for victory.
Osman Damba(PhD) is an Agric economist and has expertise in agricultural development, price votality and food security, agribusiness, value chain analysis and climate change.
He has published 37 books and 80 citations.
He is the current vice president of the UDS Alumni Association.
He completed Tamale Senior High School(Tamasco).
