About 20 persons nabbed for alleged lesbian wedding

Not long ago, there was a big stir on issues concerning LGBTQI which stormed the country after the group opened an office in Accra. Many advocates against the group expressed their displeasure whereas others in support shared their discontent over the level of discrimination being received from their own people. The matter took waves across almost all media platforms with diversified opinions.
In a story sited at Ghana web, 22 persons including 6 men have been arrested at Kwahu-Obomeng in the Eastern Region over alleged lesbian marriage been held in the community.
A local journalist in the area, Okwahuhemaa Piesie Afia Pokua narrated the whole incidence to Ghana web which occurred on Saturday night around 10pm, when she had an information of a supposed lesbian wedding taking place in the vicinity.
“I had information that some people suspected to be gays and lesbians were having a party and named the party “birthday party” and they had planned to have a marriage ceremony meaning two ladies were going to get married. During the event I heard the MC saying “today we have a vow to make, we’re here purposely for something whether come or not we go do our thing. At about 11:45pm, the MC said “Oh it’s now time for the birthday girls to come out she said adding that the couple soon emerged from the house into the open to cut the bridal cake”. She added, “When they came out, I saw a woman with what looked like a lace made into a wedding gown with a veil, bridal fan and bridal purse, the one acting like a man was also costumed in a Nigerian outfit. They came out of the room as a couple, she narrated further. Around 12am the police came around and got them arrested, some of them ran away”.
The suspects were said to have denied holding a marriage ceremony but the police asked them to provide evidence of their claims but were all sent away. The event grounds is said to be popularly known for hosting events for LGBTQI and prostitution. The landlord of the resident has afterward been summoned by Nana Effah Opinaman II, Chief of Kwahu-Obomeng and his elders to appear before them on Thursday at the palace to explain why they use the facility for such illegal activities.
