The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has finally released a power outage (dumsor) timetable which will affect some parts of Accra and its environs.
This is followed by a series of complaints and backlash levelled onto the government and ECG after most business men and women bitterly complained of the indiscriminate power cut which have affected the goods especially frozen items. They pleaded with the accorded authorities to release a timetable to create awareness on when they will experience their power cut in order to prepare for any uncertainties.
The ECG has explained that the recent power cut is as a result of an ongoing maintenance system on the Pokuase Bulk Supply Point. In a statement, the operation will demand a total shutdown of the 330kv transmission line thereby disrupting the free flow of power supply to the Mallam Bulk Supply Point.
“As part of projects to improve power supply reliability and system voltages, the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) in collaboration with Electricity Company of Ghana will undertake interruptions in power supply to facilitate the work of contractors at various stages and times.
“In this regard, the Pokuase Bulk Supply Point (BSP) which is near completion and sponsored by the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) will require a tie into GRIDCo’s 330kv transmission line.”
