The CORONAVIRUS is a deadly pandemic or disease which has affected thousands of lives. Late in 2019, scientist started monitoring the outbreak of a new coronavirus SARS-CoV 2, which causes Covid. They first identified the virus in Wuhan, China. The virus spread rapidly around the world, and the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO) declared a pandemic in March 2020. The new coronavirus has been responsible for millions of infections globally, and it has caused more than 2 million deaths. The mortality rate varies from country to country.

SYMPTOMS OF THE CORONAVIRUS

Most common symptoms:

.Fever .Dry cough . Tiredness

LESS COMMON SYMPTOMS:

.aches and pains

.sore throat

. diarrhea

. conjunctivitis

.headache

.loss of taste or smell

.a rash on skin, or discoloration of fingers or toe nails

SERIOUS SYMPTOMS:

. difficulty breathing or shortness of breath

.chest pain or pressure

.loss of speech or movement

On average it takes 5 – 6 days from when someone is infected with the virus for symptoms to show, however it can take up to 14 days.

HOW TO PREVENT THE CORONAVIRUS

The coronavirus is a deadly pandemic but, there are ways of preventing this deadly pandemic.

1. Wash your hands under clean running water with soap for at least 20 seconds every 20 minutes, and sanitize hands with rubbing alcohol at least 70% and above.

2.Always wear a nose mask or a face mask when going out at all times and remember to let the nose mask cover your nose and mouth to prevent germs.

3.Remember to stay at least on feet away from your colleague when talking to him or her and do not stay at crowded areas(do not go outside if you have nothing to do)

4.When coughing or sneezing use a tissue or a handkerchief or your inner elbow(do not sneeze into your palms) avoid touching surfaces of things when outside(you never know who may carry the virus)

NB: Do not self medicate if you have the virus. Always remember managing your health and safety is very important.
