The anonymous man behind a viral video accusing workers at the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman of abandoning patients at the phlebotomy unit has publicly apologised, admitting he was misinformed.
His apology follows his arrest by the Techiman Police, who tracked him down shortly after the video sparked outrage online.
The video, which surfaced on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, showed patients waiting at the hospital’s phlebotomy unit with no staff in sight. It quickly went viral, garnering thousands of shares and reactions, with many condemning the hospital for alleged negligence.

However, investigations by hospital authorities and police revealed that the accusations were unfounded. Hospital records and eyewitness accounts confirmed that staff, including the phlebotomist, were on duty at the time. According to officials, the phlebotomist had briefly stepped into the laboratory after collecting patients’ samples.
The man behind the video, identified as Richmond Kyeremeh, had in fact received medical attention at the hospital, including laboratory tests and results, before recording and circulating the video.
Speaking to police following his arrest, Richmond explained that he was ill-informed about the situation at the facility on the day, making him misinform the public.
“What happened here on Monday, the 19th of May, was that I came for treatment and was asked to do lab tests. After the tests, I was waiting for my results and didn’t see any staff around for a while.
“Someone told us the morning shift had left, and I assumed the unit had been abandoned. I admit I should have verified the information or contacted hospital management before posting the video,” he explained.
In a written apology, Kyeremeh acknowledged the harm caused and pledged to make amends.
“I sincerely apologise for spreading false information about your hospital. I failed to verify its accuracy and take full responsibility for the lapse in judgment. I have removed the video from all platforms and issue this public retraction to set the record straight. I understand my apology may not undo the damage, but I hope it shows the depth of my remorse,” he stated.
The Holy Family Hospital has since released an official statement describing the incident as a “deliberate act of mischief.” The hospital urged the public to disregard the misleading content and encouraged responsible use of social media to prevent similar occurrences.
