The current educational system in the country is facing a number of crisis which inhibits effective teaching and learning. On regular basis, there are news on schools which need support on infrastructure, learning materials and aid, furniture, vehicles among other supplies.
Therefore, students should with all responsibility handle the available educational materials with care as they are passed on to the next batch of students with little or no replacement of such items when missing or damaged.
In reference to this, the authorities of the Tamale Technical University have petitioned students to bring back furniture from the school being taken and used in their various homes. This is in response after series of complaints were made on inadequate furniture in the school.
During the third matriculation ceremony held by the school, the Vice Chancellor of the institution Professor Abass Braimah lamented on the extent students have gone to carry furniture from lecture halls into their residents for their personal use. Referring to it as act of sabotage, the Vice Chancellor petitioned the students to return these furniture for effective aide in teaching and learning. He cautioned that failure on the part of students to comply will result in “operation search and rescue furniture” mission in their respective neighbourhoods.
The university which has no fenced wall has its road linking to its neighbouring towns and communities making it easier for students to carry out with their act. The Vice Chancellor implored stakeholders to assist in any way possible to help the university deliver its best.
