Agogo Presbyterian Hospital in Shock as 11-Day-Old Baby Reportedly Stolen

A heartbreaking incident has struck the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital in the Ashanti Region, where an 11-day-old baby boy was reportedly stolen from the hospital’s maternity ward. The shocking disappearance has left the baby’s mother, hospital staff, and the local community in deep distress, while authorities race against time to find the missing child.

According to reports, the baby was taken in the early hours of the morning under mysterious circumstances. The mother, who was still recovering from childbirth, discovered that her newborn was missing shortly after waking up. Nurses on duty were immediately alerted, and a frantic search began across the hospital premises. Unfortunately, the baby could not be located.

Hospital authorities have since launched a full-scale internal investigation to determine how the abduction occurred despite security measures in place. The police have also taken over the case, reviewing CCTV footage and questioning staff and visitors who were present around the time of the incident. Preliminary findings suggest that the suspect may have taken advantage of a brief moment of distraction within the ward.

The news has triggered widespread public outrage, with many expressing concern over the safety of newborns in public hospitals. Child protection advocates have called for stricter security protocols, including electronic tagging of newborns, restricted access to maternity wards, and better surveillance systems to prevent similar incidents in the future.

One hospital source, speaking on condition of anonymity, admitted that the staff were devastated by the incident. “We are heartbroken. No one expected something like this to happen here. The mother is inconsolable, and we are doing everything possible to assist the police,” the source said.

  1. Meanwhile, community members in Agogo have joined the search, sharing photos and information across social media to help locate the missing baby. The Ashanti Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to provide any information that may lead to the rescue of the child. They have also assured the family and the public that the investigation is being treated as a top priority.Family games

As the search continues, many Ghanaians are calling for accountability and reforms within hospital security management. The case serves as a painful reminder of the vulnerabilities in healthcare facilities and the urgent need for robust safety systems to protect mothers and their newborns.
