Foreign Minister Okudzeto Ablakwa confirms UK Visas granted for Suzy Adwoa Pinamang’s medical trip
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the successful acquisition of UK visas for Suzy Adwoa Pinamang and two caregivers accompanying her on a critical medical trip to the United Kingdom.

Suzzy is a student at Bantama SDA Senior High School. She was tragically involved in an accident that led to the loss of her eyesight after being accidentally shot in the face by a male classmate.

The incident occurred during a mathematics class on Friday, April 4, 2025, when the student reportedly brought a firearm to school and began showing it to others.

According to her, the weapon discharged unintentionally, striking her in the face and causing severe injuries that ultimately resulted in blindness.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Minister Ablakwa confirmed that the visas have been granted, enabling Suzy and her caregivers to travel for urgent medical treatment.

He further disclosed that he has directed the Ghana High Commission in the UK to provide special consular privileges to Suzy upon her arrival, ensuring she receives the necessary support and assistance during her stay.

The Minister expressed deep appreciation to the UK High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Harriet Thompson, for her compassionate and prompt response to the urgent appeal made on behalf of Suzy.

“Her Excellency has been extremely helpful in facilitating this process on compassionate grounds,” Ablakwa noted

He also acknowledged the role of Francis Asenso-Boakye, Member of Parliament for Bantama, who initially brought Suzy’s situation to the Minister’s attention following an accidental gunshot injury inflicted by a classmate.

“I duly commend the MP for Bantama, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye who first brought Suzy’s plight to my attention and requested my intervention as Foreign Minister following the accidental gunshot by her classmate”.

Also, Ablakwa extended heartfelt thanks to prominent businessman Ibrahim Mahama, who has generously pledged to cover the full cost of Suzy Pinamang’s medical treatment in the UK.

“This is a testament that we can always achieve great progress when we work together,” the Minister emphasized.

Okudzeto Ablakwa offered words of encouragement to Suzy, describing her as a “brave young lady” and a “winner,” and assured her of the unwavering prayers and support of the Ghanaian people.

“I wish Suzy Adwoa Pinamang the very best — don’t give up the fight, brave young lady — you are a winner!”.
