Four “Pragya” Operators Fined GH¢2,400 For Blocking Road At Agbogbloshie

Four operators of the popular tricycles known as “Pragya” have been fined a total of GH¢2,400 for obstructing a public road at Agbogbloshie, a busy commercial area in Accra.
According to reports, the four drivers were each fined GH¢600, equivalent to 50 penalty units, after they were found guilty of blocking a major road and disrupting traffic flow. Their actions forced motorists and pedestrians to use unsafe routes, causing unnecessary congestion and safety risks.
The fine was imposed after a joint operation involving the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), transport authorities, and road safety officers, who have intensified enforcement against illegal road activities and tricycle misuse in the capital.
Officials say the move is part of efforts to restore discipline on the roads and ensure the smooth flow of traffic within the city’s major markets and transport corridors. The authorities also cautioned other tricycle operators to adhere to road regulations or face similar sanctions.
Residents and business owners in Agbogbloshie have praised the decision, noting that reckless parking and road obstruction by Pragya drivers have been a persistent problem. They urged continued enforcement to make the roads safer for everyone.
