Man sues WhatsApp group admin for removing him from the group (Full Story)

A man based in Uganda has sued the admin of a whatsApp group after he removed him from the group.

According to the man identifed as Herbert Baitwababo, one May 16th he wrote a letter to the admin of the group asking for accountability for all the monies they had contributed since the group was created in 2017.

But the admin we didn’t feel happy about the letter decided to remove him from the group before he creates chaos in the group.

After his removal, Mr Herbert didn’t like the idea and therefore took the matter to court so they could reinstate him in the group and the accountability made to him.

At the court he mentioned that the name of the group was ‘Buyanja My Roots’, and its main aim was dedicated to their Buyanja sub-county in Rukungiri district to render help to people within the area.

In part, Baitwababo’s affidavit submitted to the court stated, “As members of the aforementioned WhatsApp group, we developed the idea of creating an association and agreed that one had to pay Sh.30,000 only to subscribe for the membership, and as such, I fully registered.

After the hearing, Mr. Igga Agiru, acting Senior Grade One Magistrate at Makindye Magistrate’s Court in Kampala, ordered the respondent, who was not present, to reinstall Baitwababo.

A permanent injunction prohibiting the administrator, his agents, or assignees from further impairing Baitwababo’s right to association was also issued by the magistrate. Cost-related directives were not given.

He was added back to the group and made an admin but the other members of the group existed the group one after the other.

Mr. Herbert according to sources is planning to head back to court to secure an order asking all the members to be added back to the group.
