President Mahama Promises Fair Pay For Cocoa Farmers

Cocoa

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that he will ensure cocoa farmers in Ghana receive 70% of the world market price for cocoa, highlighting the importance of compensation for their hardwork.

In a recent post on his social media platform, President Mahama reaffirmed his dedication to the welfare of Ghana’s cocoa farmers, who play a crucial role in nation’s economy and agricultural sector.

“So let me be clear today, we will ensure our commitment to pay our farmers 70% of the world market price of cocoa,” President Mahama stated. He underscored that “the sweat of our cocoa farmers deserves dignity and a fair reward,” highlighting the need for equitable treatment in an industry often criticized for its exploitative practices.

Cocoa farming is essential for Ghana, providing jobs and income. However, may farmers face low prices and limited support, leading to calls for change. The President’s announcement comes at a time when the global demand for cocoa is rising, yet many farmers remain trapped in poverty.

The Pesident Mahama’s pledge aims to empower farmers by ensuring they receive a fair share of profits generated from their work.

This initiative is part of a broader agenda under the #ResettingGhana, which seeks to improve the agricultural sector and the living conditions of those who work within it.
