The Prophet, a native of Afaha Ise in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, defiled his victim, a JSS 1 student on 9th August, 2019, when her mother brought her and her younger sister for holiday to their stepfather’s house.
According to the convict’s testimony, the devil “pushed him at midnight to forcefully have a carnal knowledge of his step daughter,” which is how he confessed to the crime.
Justice Okon Okon, the presiding judge, denounced the conduct and stated in his ruling that the confession was clear and unambiguous that the defendant was the one who did the crime.
He asserted that the confessional statement and other prosecution witnesses’ testimony had established the convict’s guilt of the offense beyond a reasonable doubt.
sentenced him to 21 years in jail, with effect as of the moment the offender was brought into custody at the Uyo Custodial Center.
