St James Seminary and Senior High School holds Requiem Mass for Squadron Leader Peter Abaafeme Anala

Hundreds of mourners gathered at St. James Seminary today to pay their last respects to the late Squadron Leader Peter Abaafeme Anala, a distinguished alumnus of the school who attended from 2004 to 2007.

The Requiem Mass, which began around 7:00 pm, was officiated by Fr. Sixtus Appiah Kyeremeh, a classmate of the deceased. The ceremony drew a large contingent of students, Old Boys of St. James Seminary represented by the St. James Old Boys Association (JOBA), and esteemed guests, including Justice Eric Ansah Ankomah of the High Court of Ghana, Rev. Fr. Thomas Oppong-Febri, Vicar General of Sunyani Diocese and Chairman of the Board of Governors of St James Seminary & SHS, and former Deputy Attorney General of Ghana Lawyer Alfred Tuah Yeboah.

Uniformed personnel from the Sunyani Garrison Command and representatives from the media were also in attendance. Additionally, a group of Old Students from Notre Dame Senior High School were present to pay their respects to the deceased, and a few old students from Sunyani Senior High School were also in attendance. A few family members of the late Squadron Leader were also present to pay their last respects.

In his welcome address, the Rector of St James Seminary & SHS ,Rev. Fr. Felix Taah, set the tone for the solemn occasion, which was followed by heartfelt tributes from various groups. Rasheed Commey Quaye, a fellow alumnus, friend, and mate of the deceased, delivered a poignant tribute on behalf of JOBA 2007, highlighting Anala’s exemplary life and good relationships with others. General JOBA’s tribute read on behalf of the JOBA President Doctor Nana Adu Appiah-Kubi described the late Anala as a true reflection of the values that define St James:sincerity, fidelity, and perseverance.

Other tributes were paid by Captain Bernard Toaba Koyiri on behalf of the Garrison Commander of Sunyani Brig. Gen. Selasie Gagakumah. Rev. Fr. Thomas Oppong-Febri read a tribute on behalf of the Board of Governors of St James Seminary & SHS, particularly noting Squadron Leader Peter Abaafeme Anala’s role as the organiser of the Debating Club in the 2006/2007 academic year and his contribution to the school’s national debate victory in 2007.

Throughout the tributes, students were encouraged to emulate Anala’s virtues and commitment to excellence. The programme, which concluded at 8:47 pm, was a fitting tribute to a man whose legacy continues to inspire.
