Suhum MCE Sacks Office Assistant For Attending NDC Deputy Youth Organizer’s Wedding

-

The Municipal Chief Executive for Suhum in Eastern region Margerate Darko has relieved her office assistant Miss Portia Asare of her post for attending wedding of Suhum constituency deputy youth organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress,NDC.

Miss Portia Asare was relieved from her duties on the 19th of June 2023, two days after the wedding.

She was alleged blocked by the MCE from entering her office and asked to go home.

Miss Portia Asare confirmed the report when contacted on phone by Mybrytfmonline.com Thursday morning but refused to make further comment on the matter.

“Yes it is true but please I can’t speak on it ” miss portia said.

Meanwhile the Suhum constituency of the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, has waded in describing the action of the MCE as undemocratic.

A statement issued by Dove Maxwell , constituency communication officer said “Our attention has been drawn to some news about the MCE for Suhum Municipal Assembly Honorable Margaret Darko sacking her assistant Miss Portia Asare for attending the wedding of Ebu Stanley Suhum Constituency Deputy Youth Organizer for the National Democratic Congress. The reason for her sack was why she attended a wedding of her enemies which is the NDC, but all meaningful and sound people here in this country knows that family before politics that’s why we see both sides supports each other in times of funeral, wedding, education etc but this is not the case of the Suhum MCE who sees anyone as an enemy if you don’t support her political party”.

The statement continued that “today, the constituency is suffering because we have an MCE who is not on talking terms with the MP so they can’t come together to develop our communities, today we have an MCE who resorts to violence and verbal attacks in solving issues, today we have an MCE who doesn’t care about the cultural values of Suhum but wants to divide the constituency with partisan politics by sacking her assistant for attending the wedding of her rival political party.Miss Portia Asare all hope is not lost, we know getting a job today is very difficult but you did your best to serve under such a person. God will surely open better and greater doors for you in the near future” .

The NDC called on all and sundry who have the capacity or any opportunity to help the young lady secure a job in other to catch up with the economic hardship in this country.

“Suhum must stand together and fight this devilish political approach by the MCE, we are and will always choose family first over politics”.

Efforts to get the MCE have not been successful.
