In a significant development, India and Ghana have pledged to double their bilateral trade from $3 billion to $6 billion over the next five years. This commitment was announced during a historic visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Accra, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ghana in 30 years.

The announcement was made by Member of Parliament Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who highlighted the importance of this agreement in strengthening economic ties between the two nations. He emphasized that this initiative would not only boost trade but also create numerous opportunities for local businesses and industries in Ghana.

The trade enhancement plan includes increased cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure. Both countries aim to leverage their complementary strengths to foster mutual growth and development.

Additionally, the two nations have agreed to collaborate on digital transformation initiatives, including the integration of India’s Unified Payment Interface (UPI) with Ghana’s payment systems, to facilitate smoother financial transactions.

This strategic partnership is expected to open new avenues for trade and investment, benefiting businesses and communities in both countries.
